The next Municipal Election will be held on October 22, 2018.
Internet and Telephone Voting will start at 9:00 a.m. Thursday October 11, 2018 and close at 8:00 p.m. on Monday October 22, 2018.
You must be on the Voters’ List in order to be mailed the Voter Instruction Letter and Personal Identification Number (PIN). Checking the Voters’ List is an important step to ensure that your name and address are listed correctly. Do not assume you are on the Voters’ List – check to be sure.
The 2018 Preliminary List of Electors will be available after September 4, 2018

The Municipality of Morris-Turnberry Municipal Election in October will be convenient and accessible to all eligible voters. Electors will be voting by Internet and Telephone only. There will not be any polling locations and there will not be any paper ballots for the 2018 Municipal Election. On or about October 1, 2018, electors who are on the Voters’ List will be mailed a Voter Instruction Letter which includes a Personal Identification Number (PIN).

The Municipal Elections Act places responsibility on the Clerk to have regard to the needs of the electors and candidates with disabilities. Beginning in 2018, there are rules for third party advertising in Ontario’s municipal council and school board elections.
A third-party advertisement is an ad that supports, promotes or opposes a candidate, or supports, promotes or opposes a “yes” or “no” answer to a question on the ballot.
Third party in this context is a person or entity who is not a candidate. Third party advertising is separate from any candidate’s campaign and must be done independently from a candidate.
If you wish to spend money on third party advertisements during the election you must register first with the municipal clerk and must file a financial statement.

The Municipal Elections Act states the following:
88.7 If a municipality is satisfied that there has been a contravention of section 88.3, 88.4 or 88.5, the municipality may require a person who the municipality reasonably believes contravened the section or caused or permitted the contravention, or the owner or occupier of the land on which the contravention occurred, to remove the advertisement or discontinue the advertising. 2016, c. 15, s. 50.
