Date- December 15, 2008  Time    12 noon  Place- Council room – 41342 Morris Road


Call to order: The meeting was called to order by Nancy Michie at 12:40pm will all members in attendance, except Barry O’Krafka who was absent.

Minutes of the last meeting

  • The Minutes from September 12, 2008 were reviewed.
  • There were no comments from the Minutes.
  • The Minutes were approved by Consensus.

Unfinished Business

  • Nancy Michie informed the committee that the Bluevale Hall has been inspected by a Designer.  The Designer will go through the Hall again in January, 2009 and take a report to Council before anything will be done.

Regular Reports:

Workplace Inspections-  Inspection Results -  The Inspection reports were looked at.

  • Methane Gas Detector at the Landfill, Is not working and needs to be taken to Goderich to be fixed. 
  • Turnberry Works garage still has no Exit Sign over Door #4, but Pletch’s are scheduled to install it.
  • Morris works Garages, have no exit signs, and the alarms are not hooked up to Heat, but will be implemented when the new Security System is installed
  • Security System in the Works Garages needs to be updated. 
  • All renovations or changes to the Municipal office and the Works Garages have to be done by January 1, 2010.
  • Dates and Times for the next Health and Safety inspections were set for December 15th, 16th, and 17th.

New Business:

  • Kim Johnston handed out the Regulation 1101, with the section of the regulation highlighted that stated the First Aid boxes must be inspected at a minimum of four times a year.
  • Kim Johnston will get a sheet prepared to be placed in the First Aid boxes, to mark if something has been used or taken from the Kits.
  • Kim Johnston will be responsible for inspecting the First Aid Kits.
  • Bonnie Querengesser asked Ross Goll to bring to the meeting that it is dark in the lunch room in the Morris Works Garage, when she brings back the Methane Gas Detector.  Nancy Michie informed Ross Goll to inform Bonnie to use the lights in the Shed and that the light for the lunch room is behind the door.
  • Barry Shaw stated that the key pad for the Turnberry Works garage is full, with people sharing Security Codes and needs to be updated. 

Date of Next meeting – The Next Health and Safety Meeting will be held on Friday January 9, 2009 at 12:00 noon at the Morris-Turnberry Council Chambers.
