MUNICIPALITY OF MORRIS-TURNBERRY

JOINT HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING

Date- March 21, 2012  Time    9:00am  Place- Council room – 41342 Morris Road

Minutes

Call to order:

  • The meeting was called to order by Barry Shaw at 9:04amwith all members in attendance.

  • Ross Goll

Others in attendance:

  • No others were in attendance

Minutes of the last meeting

The Minutes from December 15, 2011 were reviewed.

Motion:

“That the minutes of the December 15, 2011 Health and Safety
Committee Meeting be adopted as circulated.”

Unfinished Business

  • Most of the concerns on the Health and Safety Inspections were cleared up before the end of 2011.    

 

Regular Reports:

  • Workplace Inspections from January and February 2012, were reviewed.
  • Morris Works Garage – MSDS are continually being checked and updated as needed.
  • Turnberry Works Garage – Evacuation Postings are being worked on currentlyby James Marshall, Community Fire Safety officer.
  • Municipal Office -  Evacuation Postings are being worked on currently by James Marshall, Community Fire Safety officer
  • Municipal Landfill – No Concerns
  • Bluevale Hall – Same issues with Generator.  Broken windows downstairs.  
  • Health and Safety Committee is concerned with the Safety of the Generator at the Bluevale Hall.
  • Barry Shaw questioned if the Generator could be moved out of the location and taken back to Hall if needed.
  • Nancy Michie stated that could be a problem if the Roads are closed and they can not get the Generator Back to the Hall if needed
  • Ross Goll questioned if the Generator could be moved to another location at the Hall, but have it out of the way of falling ice.
  • Gary Pipe would like it looked into the problems of the Generator at the next inspection.
  • Nancy Michie said the Generator should be looked at when the Council is on the annual Road Tour
  • Nancy Michie hopes to hear about JEPP funding in April or May, and then the Generator Purchase will be taken back to Council.
  • Evacuation Postings are being worked on currently by James Marshall,Community Fire Safety officer
  • Workplace Inspections dates and times were set for March and April, 2012

New Business:

  • Set Tentative Dates for the Health and Safety Committee Meetings for the year 2012.
  • Kim Johnston will post the dates the workplace locations.

Old Business:

  • Road to Zero – Risk assessments need to be set up.  Bill Sisler will come back and help with the assessments.

Date of Next meeting 

  • a tentative date for the next Health and Safety Meeting will be Wednesday June 20, 2012 at 9:00am.
