MUNICIPALITY OF MORRIS-TURNBERRY

JOINT HEALTH AND SAFETY COMMITTEE MEETING

Date- June 29, 2010  Time    9:40am  Place- Council room – 41342 Morris Road

Minutes

Call to order:

  • The meeting was called to order by Nancy Michie at 9:40am with all members in attendance

Minutes of the last meeting

The Minutes from March 17, 2010 were reviewed.

Barry Shaw said there was a correction to the minutes, Gord Haggitt refused to complete the Workplace Hazards.  Josh Machan and Bill Kieffer completed the hazards with Barry Shaw.

Motion:

“That the minutes of the March 17, 2010 Health and Safety Committee Meeting be adopted as circulated.”

Unfinished Business

  • Ross Goll informed the committee that the Methane Detector is still     dying in the afternoon.  Gary Pipe will look into the situation.
  • No Hazards were recognized and submitted from the Landfill    Department.                      

Regular Reports:

Workplace Inspections from March, April, May and June, 2010, excluding the June Bluevale Hall Inspection were reviewed.

Steve Fortier spoke about the Municipal office not mandatory to have Exit signs installed due to the Building code.  The excerpt is attached.

“to install an Exit Sign at the Back Door of the Municipal office.”

Steve Fortier left at 9:50am

The Health and Safety Policy is hoped to be completed by the end of summer, 2010.

Gary Pipe is going to get a copy of the Municipality of North Perth’s Health and Safety Policy.

Gary Pipe will look after getting the door fixed at the Landfill.

Kim Johnston will look into purchasing Co2 detectors for the Municipal office.  Kim will ask Jared how many are required for the office.

Gary Pipe will look into the Safety Clothing for the summer students.

New Business:

  • Jared Cayley presented Fire Safety Report on the Bluevale Hall, which is attached.
  • Jared and Steve are to look after items #2 & #3 on the Recommendation list submitted from Jared.Nancy Michie advised Jared to send a letter to the Bluevale Hall Board in regards to Item #1.
  • The Committee decided on dates for July and August, 2010 Workplace Inspections.

Date of Next meeting

  • The Next Health and Safety Meeting will be held on Wednesday September 22, 2010 at 8:00am at the Morris-Turnberry
  • Council Chambers.
