IMPROVED FIRE SERVICE PLANNED FOR THE
MUNICIPALITY OF MORRIS -TURNBERRY

 

The Council of the Municipality of Morris-Turnberry  recognizes  that it is important for the Municipality to
have ownership and equity in the fire service used for protection of the property and residents  in the
Municipality of Morris-Turnberry.   

Therefore,  the Municipality has purchased two parcels of land in December, 2011. The land has been
purchased  with the intent to construct two fire stations,  to provide fire service to the residents of the
Municipality of Morris-Turnberry, by  January 1,2014.  

A.      Location:                  The parcels of land are located at:  

1.        121 North Street West,  Lower Town Wingham- located at the corner of Arthur Street and North Street West.

2.       Lots 66 & 67 Plan 162,  Belgrave, ON-  located at the corner of Parker Drive and London Road

               

B.      The Development of  the Municipal Infrastructure for Municipality will provide an enhanced fire suppression
and prevention service to the residents,  as follows:

1.       The Municipality of Morris-Turnberry will once again have equity and ownership in the fire department.

2.       Improved Fire suppression service in underserviced areas of the municipalities 

3.       Improved access to areas of the municipality

4.       32 local volunteers will be selected and trained for fire protection services

5.       The  Municipality of Morris-Turnberry will again qualify for mutual aid services within the County of Huron.

Important Fact:   This investment by the Municipality of Morris-Turnberry will provide an enhanced  fire
service
and provide ownership and equity in our fire department for less dollars than are being spent today,  
for contracted fire service.
